Teen Patti is the three-card game most Indian families know from Diwali card nights. Online casinos have turned it into a live dealer table, streamed from a studio, where you play your three cards against the dealer’s three. The rules are simpler than the home game because there is no bluffing and no pot, but the hand rankings are the same, so anyone who has played at home will feel comfortable within a couple of rounds.
This guide covers how the casino version works, what each bet pays according to the providers’ own pages, which variants you are likely to see, and how to keep a session sensible.
How Teen Patti works at a live casino
The live version that Evolution runs follows a fixed sequence, and Ezugi’s tables are very close to it:
- Ante. You must place an Ante bet before the deal.
- Deal. You and the dealer each receive three cards. You see your own hand; the dealer’s stays hidden.
- Decide. You either make a Play bet equal to your Ante, or Fold and lose the Ante.
- Showdown. The dealer’s cards are revealed and compared with yours.
The dealer must hold Queen High or better to qualify. That one rule shapes the whole game:
- If the dealer does not qualify, your Play bet is returned (a push) and your Ante is paid 1:1.
- If the dealer qualifies and you beat them, both Ante and Play pay 1:1.
- If you tie, both bets push.
- If the dealer qualifies and wins, you lose both bets.
On top of this, Evolution pays an Ante Bonus whenever you hold a Straight or better, regardless of what the dealer has, as long as you placed the Play bet. Evolution describes main game payouts as running from 1:1 up to 5:1; the full Ante Bonus paytable is not shown on the page we checked, so look at the in-game rules for exact figures.
Hand rankings (standard Teen Patti)
These are the traditional rankings, from strongest to weakest. They are general rules of the game, not provider data, but live tables use the familiar order:
| Rank | Hand | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Trail / Set (three of a kind) | A-A-A |
| 2 | Pure sequence (straight flush) | 4-5-6 of hearts |
| 3 | Sequence (straight) | 9-10-J mixed suits |
| 4 | Colour (flush) | 2-7-J of spades |
| 5 | Pair | K-K-5 |
| 6 | High card | A-10-6 mixed |
One point that catches people out: in three-card games a straight is harder to make than a flush, so a sequence outranks a colour. That is the reverse of five-card poker.
Bets and payouts
Here is what the providers state on their own pages. Anything not listed was not published there.
| Bet | Evolution Teen Patti | Ezugi Bet on Teen Patti |
|---|---|---|
| Ante / Play | 1:1, with Ante Bonus on Straight or better | Main game 1:1 to 5:1 |
| Pair side bet | Pair Plus, up to 100:1 | Pair or Better, up to 100:1 |
| Six-card side bet | 6 Card Bonus, up to 1000:1 | 3+3 Bonus, up to 1000:1 |
| Dealer qualifies | Queen High | Queen High |
Pair Plus / Pair or Better looks only at your own three cards. A pair or better wins, and the dealer’s hand does not matter.
6 Card Bonus / 3+3 Bonus builds the best five-card poker hand from your three cards plus the dealer’s three. On Evolution’s table it pays from Three of a Kind upwards, with the top award at 1000:1.
RTP for these tables is not published on any official page we found, and neither are the full side bet paytables or the bet limits. The Help screen inside the game is the place to check before you stake real money.
Strategy that actually helps
You cannot beat the house edge in Teen Patti over time. What you can do is avoid the decisions that give away more than necessary, and control how much you put on the table.
Know when to fold
Because the dealer needs Queen High to qualify, very weak hands are usually poor candidates for a Play bet. A widely used rule of thumb for three-card dealer games is to play hands of roughly Queen-high or better and fold weaker ones. It is not a guarantee, just a sensible baseline that stops you doubling your stake on hopeless hands.
Treat side bets as extras
Side bets pay big multiples because big hands are rare. A 100:1 or 1000:1 headline is attractive, but most rounds the side bet simply loses. If you play them, keep the side bet small relative to your Ante. Our RTP and volatility explainer goes into why high-paying bets usually return less on average.
Set a session budget
A worked example: with a ₹2,000 session budget and a ₹100 Ante, every Play decision puts ₹200 at risk. Twenty rounds of losing Antes and Plays could clear the budget well before you notice. Decide your stop point before the first deal, and stick to it whether you are up or down.
Check bonus terms before using bonus money
Many casinos count live dealer games at a reduced rate, or not at all, towards wagering. Read our wagering requirements guide before you plan to clear a bonus on Teen Patti.
Variants you’ll find online
Evolution and Ezugi (part of the Evolution group) supply most live Teen Patti tables. These are the versions documented on their pages:
Evolution Teen Patti
The standard table described above: Ante, Play or Fold, Queen High dealer qualification, Ante Bonus on a Straight or better, plus Pair Plus and 6 Card Bonus side bets.
Ezugi Bet on Teen Patti
A close relative with the same Queen High dealer rule and 1:1 to 5:1 main game payouts. Its side bets are called Pair or Better (up to 100:1) and 3+3 Bonus (up to 1000:1).
Ezugi Teen Patti 3 Card
The dealer deals three cards to the player and three to the dealer, and the dealer again needs Queen or higher to qualify. It is the most straightforward version to learn on.
Ezugi One Day Teen Patti
This one is different. It lets you trade your position and liability using back and lay betting through a betting slip. Ezugi describes it as “Live-Casino meets in-play sports exchange betting”. If you have never used an exchange, learn the back/lay concept first, because your possible loss on a lay bet can be larger than your stake.
Related Indian card games
If you enjoy Teen Patti, the same studios run Andar Bahar and Dragon Tiger, both of which are faster and involve no decisions after you bet. For a broader look at live tables, see our live casino guide.
Playing on mobile
Live Teen Patti streams well on a modern phone, and most casinos run it in the mobile browser without a separate app. A few practical points:
- Use a stable connection. Betting windows are short. A dropped stream can mean a missed Play decision, and the rules screen explains what happens if you do not respond in time.
- Portrait vs landscape. Many live tables switch layout when you rotate the phone. Landscape usually shows more of the bet area and card history.
- Data use. Video streams use a fair amount of mobile data, so Wi-Fi is the better option for long sessions.
- Tap carefully. Chips and bet spots are small on a phone screen. Confirm your chip value before tapping the Ante.
Before you play
Teen Patti at a live table is quick, social and easy to follow, but it is still a game with a built-in house edge. Decide your budget first, keep side bets small, and stop when you reach your limit. Check the in-game rules for RTP and the exact paytable at your casino, because those figures are not on the providers’ public pages.

Teen Patti: common questions
What does the dealer need to qualify in live Teen Patti?
On Evolution's Teen Patti the dealer needs Queen High or better. Ezugi's Bet on Teen Patti and Teen Patti 3 Card use the same Queen High threshold. If the dealer does not qualify, your Ante is paid 1:1 and your Play bet pushes.
What is the RTP of online Teen Patti?
Neither Evolution nor Ezugi publishes an RTP on the official game pages we checked. Open the Help or Rules screen inside the game at your casino, which is where the return for each bet is shown.
Is the Pair Plus side bet worth playing?
Pair Plus pays on a pair or better, up to 100:1 on Evolution's table, and it does not depend on the dealer's hand. Side bets usually carry a higher house edge than the main game, so treat them as small, optional extras rather than the core of your session.
How is casino Teen Patti different from the home game?
At home you play against other players, with betting rounds, blind play and bluffing. The live casino version is played against the dealer: you place an Ante, see your three cards, then either Play or Fold. There is no bluffing and no pot.
What is One Day Teen Patti?
It is an Ezugi variant that adds back and lay betting through a betting slip, so you can trade your position during the round much like a sports exchange. It suits players who already understand exchange betting.
