Andar Bahar is one of the simplest card games in India and one of the oldest. There is one card in the middle, two piles either side, and a single question: which side will the matching card land on? That simplicity is why it moved so naturally into live dealer studios, where a round takes moments and the only decision is where to put your chips.
This guide explains the rules, what the providers say about payouts and side bets, the two main live versions, and how to keep your play under control.
How Andar Bahar works
The game uses a standard deck. The flow of a round is the same at almost every table:
- The Joker. The dealer turns one card face up in the centre. This is the Joker (sometimes called the game card). Only its rank matters, not its suit.
- Bets. You bet on Andar (inside, usually the left) or Bahar (outside, usually the right).
- The deal. Once betting closes, the dealer places cards one by one, alternating between the two sides. On Evolution’s Super Andar Bahar the first card goes to Andar, then Bahar, and so on.
- The match. Dealing stops the moment a card of the same rank as the Joker appears. Whichever side it lands on wins.
Ezugi sums it up as predicting “whether the Joker will be dealt to the Andar or Bahar side”. In practice that means predicting where the matching card falls.
A quick example
The Joker is the 7 of clubs. The dealer deals K to Andar, 3 to Bahar, 9 to Andar, 7 of hearts to Bahar. The round ends: Bahar wins, because it received the first card matching the Joker’s rank.
Home game vs live table
At home, Andar Bahar is often played with friends taking turns as dealer, house rules on who gets the first card, and small stakes passed around the table. The live casino version keeps the same core idea but fixes everything else. A professional dealer runs every round, the dealing order is set by the table rules, betting opens and closes on a timer, and payouts are paid automatically. You cannot negotiate or change the rules mid-game, so it is worth reading the Help screen once before you start. It will tell you which side gets the first card, what each main bet pays, how the card-count side bets are settled, and the minimum and maximum stakes at that table.
Bets and payouts
The main bet is a near coin flip, which is why it pays close to even money. Neither Ezugi nor Evolution lists the exact main bet payouts on the pages we checked. In many versions of the game, the side that receives the first card pays slightly less than evens to balance its small head start, but you should confirm this in the table’s rules rather than assume it.
What the providers do publish is about side bets and top wins:
| Feature | Ezugi Andar Bahar | Evolution Super Andar Bahar |
|---|---|---|
| Top win stated | Up to 120x your stake | Up to 4000x on ‘Cards 46–49’ side bet |
| Side bets | Eight, on how many cards are dealt before a match | Ten, from ‘Cards 1–5’, ‘Cards 6–10’ through to ‘Cards 46–49’ |
| Multipliers | Not mentioned | 1 to 5 random multipliers on side bets each round |
| Other features | Live betting statistics | Alternate dealing, Andar first |
How the card-count side bets work
Both versions let you bet on how many cards will be dealt before the match appears. A short game (a match within the first five cards) is fairly common. A very long game (46 or more cards) is rare, which is why it pays so much more. The exact paytables for these bets are not published on the providers’ pages, so check the in-game rules before you place one.
Strategy that actually helps
Andar Bahar has no decisions after you bet, so there is no “correct play” to learn. The house edge is fixed by the payouts. What you can control is how much you stake and for how long.
Keep the main bet as your base
The main Andar or Bahar bet is the least volatile option on the table. If you want a longer session from the same budget, make it the bulk of your play.
Size side bets carefully
A side bet with a big multiplier will lose far more often than it wins. Think of a 4000x headline as a lottery ticket attached to the round. If you play side bets, keep them to a small fraction of your main bet. Our RTP and volatility guide explains why rare, high payouts usually come with a lower average return.
Ignore streaks
Live tables show statistics and recent results. They are fun to look at, but past results do not change the odds of the next deal, so “Andar has won five times in a row” tells you nothing useful.
Plan your session
A worked example: with ₹1,500 for the evening and a ₹50 main bet, you have 30 bets before the budget runs out if every round loses. Rounds are fast, so 30 rounds can pass in a few minutes. Set both a money limit and a time limit.
Bonus money
Live card games often count at a reduced rate towards wagering. Before you plan to clear a bonus here, read our welcome bonus guide and the specific casino’s terms.
Variants you’ll find online
Ezugi Andar Bahar
Ezugi, which is part of the Evolution group, runs the version most Indian players will see. Its page highlights a chance to win up to 120x your stake, live betting statistics and “eight dynamic side bets” built around how many cards are dealt before a match.
Evolution Super Andar Bahar
Evolution’s own take adds random multipliers. Every round, one to five multipliers are applied to the side bets, and the top one can reach 4000x on ‘Cards 46–49’. Cards are dealt alternately, starting with Andar. It suits players who want a small chance of a big hit alongside the classic main bet.

Playing on mobile
Andar Bahar is well suited to phones because the betting area is small: two main spots and a row of side bets.
- Connection matters. The betting window is short. A stable Wi-Fi or 4G/5G connection avoids missing a round.
- Check your chip value. On a small screen it is easy to tap the wrong chip. Confirm the value before each round.
- Use landscape for statistics. Rotating the phone usually shows the history and statistics panels more clearly.
- Watch your data. Live video streams use more data than ordinary casino games.
Before you play
Andar Bahar is quick and easy to follow, which makes it easy to play more rounds than you intended. Set your budget and time limit before the first bet, keep side bets small, and walk away when you reach either limit. RTP and payouts are not published on the providers’ public pages, so read the in-game rules at your casino first.

Andar Bahar: common questions
How do you win at Andar Bahar?
You bet on whether the card matching the Joker (the face-up card in the middle) will land on the Andar side or the Bahar side. Cards are dealt alternately to each side until one matches the Joker's rank. If your side gets the match, you win.
What is the RTP of Andar Bahar?
Ezugi and Evolution do not publish an RTP on the official pages we checked, and the main bet payouts were not listed there either. The in-game Help or Rules screen at your casino shows the exact payouts and return for each bet.
What is the biggest win in Andar Bahar?
Ezugi's page says its Andar Bahar offers the chance to win up to 120 times your stake. Evolution's Super Andar Bahar adds random multipliers to side bets, with up to 4000x possible on the 'Cards 46–49' side bet.
Is there any strategy for Andar Bahar?
No strategy changes the odds, because each result depends only on the order of the cards. What helps is controlling your stake size, limiting side bets, and setting a session budget before you start.
What is the difference between Andar Bahar and Super Andar Bahar?
Super Andar Bahar is Evolution's version. It has ten side bets based on how many cards are dealt before a match, and one to five random multipliers are applied to those side bets every round.
